When materials have “memory”, “life”, and “intelligence”, what will the world be like? These aren’t sci-fi—they’re materials science’s cutting edge. The 2026 International Summer School on Novel Materials+ at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) invites you to Wuhan for two electrifying weeks that reveal how novel materials are rewriting the rules of technology.

Led by world-renowned faculty in an all-English environment, the program lets you dive into diverse materials fields—including energy materials, smart materials, biomimetic materials, metallic materials, and more. Additionally, we will arrange hands-on experiences, enterprise visits, and Chinese cultural activities for you to enrich your learning journey.

This summer school isn’t just about learning—it’s about joining the movement shaping materials’ future. Join us to turn curiosity about novel materials into actionable skills and lasting global connections.

➭Introduction of the Host

This program is hosted by School of Materials Science and Engineering at HUST and its materials science program currently ranks 12th in ESI Materials Science (top 0.01% worldwide) and 15th in U.S. News & World Report’s Materials Science rankings.

Founded in 1952, the School serves as a key platform for interdisciplinary research and talent cultivation—equipping you with direct access to cutting-edge facilities and global academic resources to support your exploration of novel materials.

June 30th, 2026 – July 13rd, 2026 (14 days)

➭Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid passports.

2. Current university students between the ages of 18 and 45.

3. English proficiency.

4. Interested in the development of novel materials and their application.
