Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) held its 2025 autumn sports meet from Oct 31 to Nov 2, bringing together over 4,500 students and faculty athletes for three days of competition, passion, and teamwork. Divided into six categories – undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculty groups (A and B), the event featured 75 athletic contests.

Liu Bo, chair of the university committee, delivered the opening address and declared the sports meet open. She encouraged all participants to carry the spirit of determination, teamwork, and resilience beyond the stadium, integrating it into their studies, work, and daily lives.

Led by the national flag guard, the opening ceremony began with a grand parade featuring flower and red-flag formations, followed by 59 faculty and department contingents. A colorful artistic performance then unfolded in four chapters, celebrating HUST’s unity and youthful energy.

Throughout the games, numerous records were broken as athletes displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship. The School of Optical and Electronic Information, College of Life Science and Technology, and School of Integrated Circuits took the top three spots in Undergraduate Group A, while the School of Pharmacy, School of Public Health, and School of Physics led Group B.

The School of Optical and Electronic Information, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, and School of Integrated Circuits topped the Graduate Group A, while the School of Education, School of Public Health, and Law School led Graduate Group B.

In the faculty divisions, the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering, School of Optical and Electronic Information, and School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering placed first in Group A; Union Hospital, the General Affairs Office, and HUST Press took the honors in Group B.
