2026 HUST Application Guide for International Summer School on Modern Photonics
Editor: Date:November 17, 2025 Hits:

➭Overview of the Program

This short-term program offers international students a well-designed course of modern photonics, at the same time, a dive into Chinese culture.

Discover how light can solve complex scientific and engineering challenges in this dynamic summer course. Photonics is revolutionizing fields from telecommunications to medicine by combining classic principles with cutting-edge computational tools like machine learning. This hands-on program equips you with specialized numerical methods—more efficient than general techniques—to model light-matter interactions in advanced materials and nanostructures.

Why Join?

Bridge Theory and Practice: Learn through a blend of foundational concepts and Python-based simulations, applying them to real-world examples like photonic crystals, metasurfaces, and optical sensors

Customize Your Learning: Choose one of three tracks to match your goals:

- Engineering Track: Use provided code to tackle practical problems.

- Computational Track: Develop and optimize your own numerical solvers.

- Theoretical Track: Dive into analytical derivations and physical models.

Gain a Career Edge: Master skills highly valued in industries like renewable energy, biophotonics, and data communications

Course Highlights

Project-Based Learning: Reinforce concepts with demonstrations, exercises, and mini-projects.

No Advanced Prerequisites: Suitable for undergraduates with basic physics/math background.

Chinese Culture Experience: Dynamic experiences of Chinese cultural heritages, such as wood carving, Han embroidery, and calligraphy.
