To enrich the spiritual and cultural lives of faculty and staff and foster a deeper sense of national identity, the Labor Union organized an autumn outing to the historic region of Yunmeng on November 15, 2025. Participating faculty embarked on a culturally enriching journey, immersed in the echoes of history.
Dialogue with National Treasures: Tracing the Roots of Chinese Civilization
The tour began at the Yunmeng County Museum. On November 4, 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited an exhibition of Qin and Han dynasty bamboo slips, emphasizing how cultural relics carry the essence of civilization, preserve history, and strengthen cultural confidence.

Faculty examined prestigious artifacts, including the Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips, China's earliest legal code "Eighteen Forms of Qin Law," and the nation's oldest surviving personal letters. These historical records vividly bridged a 2,000-year gap, transforming academic knowledge into a tangible narrative and deepening the group's appreciation of China's profound cultural heritage.

Strolling Through Ancient Architecture: An Encounter with Artisan Spirit
In the afternoon, the group visited Xiangyun Bay. Walking through the recreated ancient streets, they admired the distinct features of eight regional architectural styles. Live demonstrations by artisans of intangible cultural heritage allowed them to witness traditional craftsmanship firsthand, fostering a new understanding of cultural preservation.

The outing was widely praised by participants as both a relaxing retreat and an inspiring "lesson on the move." Participants described it as "truly rewarding". By connecting with history and culture, faculty members felt a renewed sense of pride and motivation. They affirmed their commitment to further learning and to channeling this renewed passion into international education, with a focus on cultivating more outstanding talents who understand and befriend China.
