University of York visits HUST to advance academic cooperation

A delegation from the School for Business and Society at the University of York visited the College of Public Administration at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) on Dec 18 to advance academic exchange and cooperation.

The delegation was led by Professor Neil Lunt, Associate Dean of the School for Business and Society at the University of York, who met with HUST’s Liu Fang, Chair of the School Committee, and Li Jing, Vice Dean of the College of Public Administration. The discussion focused on expanding international collaboration in education and research.

Liu welcomed the delegation and introduced the college’s development history, disciplinary strengths, faculty resources, and internationalization strategy. She noted that amid profound changes in global governance, substantive cooperation with leading international universities is essential for cultivating public administration professionals with a worldwide perspective and advancing disciplinary innovation.

Professor Lunt expressed appreciation for the warm reception and shared insights into the School for Business and Society’s strengths in public policy, social innovation, and interdisciplinary research. He emphasized the institutions’ strong alignment and conveyed York’s willingness to pursue comprehensive cooperation based on shared values and complementary strengths.

Both sides exchanged views on cooperation pathways and implementation mechanisms, reached a preliminary consensus on joint training programs, short-term exchanges, collaborative research, and faculty and student mobility, and agreed to further refine cooperation plans and work toward signing a memorandum of understanding to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives.
